I am currently working on a series of electric instruments
built from organic slabs of walnut. In woodworking parlance the
term "live edge" refers to lumber which is milled straight
from the log and includes the outside surface of the tree. Sometimes
the bark is left on which creates an even more dramatic effect.
The Live Edge series are intended more as wall art or functional sculpture than as practical instruments. However these are fully functional electric guitars with pickups and can be plugged in an played.
This series will include an electric guitar, bass and, since I'm a harp guitar builder, even an electric harp guitar or two. Shown at left is a lap steel guitar. So stay tuned as I add more instruments to this series.
